Companies House launches new search service
01 July 2015

Companies House has launched a new, free of charge search service of digital data held on the UK register of companies.

The service provides access to more than 170 million records concerning companies and directors, including financial accounts, company filings and details of directors and company secretaries throughout the life of the company.

Companies House said on 22 June: “We welcome feedback, using the survey link in the service, and we will be continuing to release new search features over forthcoming months.”

Meanwhile, Companies House has issued a reminder that company officer details need to be updated within 14 days of a change.

It said: “Searches of company officers account for 47 per cent of all public searches of our database, but only 53 per cent of companies let us know within the legal timescale when their officer details have changed.

“Filing your documentation late can affect your credit standing as this is one of the indicators to your company’s reliability. If your bottom line is being affected it makes sense to keep your documentation up to date.

“The speed of online filing and ease of access means you can immediately update your company information as soon as decisions are made, so there’s every reason to take advantage of this.”
